KAPSTAR Mold Steel
- KAPSTAR is a precipitation hardening mold steel ideal for plastic injection and rubber compression molds.
- KAPSTAR is supplied at approximately 40 Rc. Additional heat treating is not required however, if a higher hardness is required, the material can achieve a higher hardness through nitride processing.
- KAPSTAR can be machined and polished and enter production immediately. KAPSTAR can provide as much as three times greater in-service tool life than P-20. It is through-hardened steel that exhibits uniform hardness through thick and thin sections.
- KAPSTAR at 40 Rc machines up to 50% faster than P-20 at 30 Rc.
- KAPSTAR is sold in the precipitation/age hardened condition. Typical hardness is BHN 344/371 Rc 37/42.
- KAPSTAR maximum working hardness is BHN 344/371 Rc 42 (as supplied).
